The main rule today is that liquids are not allowed in the hand luggage. However, it is open to carry smaller amounts of liquid, provided the liquids are in containers up to 100 milliliters each, or the containers are placed in a transparent, resealable and closed plastic bag with a capacity of no more than 1 liter.
It was in 2006 that the restrictions were introduced after British police revealed plans to blast airplanes using liquid explosives.
In 2010, it was announced that the EU would abolish the ban on liquids on aircraft. In 2016, however, the Civil Aviation Authority stated that the technology was not yet ready to lift the ban.
New airport security scanners in Norway to?

Avinor is considering buying new X-ray machines for luggage, and thus the upper limit on how much liquid you can carry in your luggage on airplanes can be eliminated.
Avinor, which operates most airports in Norway, has not yet decided whether to invest in the new scanners, according to flysmart24.no.
– We are considering it now. Given the large costs, it will probably be relevant in the largest airports in Norway in the first place, says communications manager Kristian Løksa in Avinor.
The new X-ray machines are three-dimensional and allow the controllers to study the contents of the luggage from all angles. The machines have been tested and approved by TSA in the United States.
Will UK be the first one to have the new scanners in place?
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has recently ordered all UK airports to introduce the new scanner by 2022. The equipment is already being tested at Heathrow airport in London.
Hopefully this will speed up the screening process
The machines allow the controllers to distinguish between dangerous and harmless content, and thus they can detect explosives and other illegal objects. At the airports that use the new scanners, travelers do not have to limit how much liquid they carry or withdraw containers of liquid from the luggage in the security check.
At least you don’t have to think about how much drink you bring on the plane. And you as passenger can know that you are flying safer than before. It will be exciting to see who gets new x-ray machines and when.
What do you think about the new scanners? Will they help ease up the queue lines at the airports? Leave a comment below.
